Due the unfortunate shortage in the Super Sedan nominations for tomorrow night’s South Australian Title a late decision to add 360/LS Sprintcars to this Saturday nights event at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway was made. With less than a week’s notice, 10 entries were received with drivers travelling from all over the State and from Victoria, but one of the most encouraging aspects is the fact that there are three drivers who have only made two race starts between them.

Local resident and former Australian Champion Ryan Jones is a surprise entry, as he was expected to race interstate this weekend, and he will enter the event as an overwhelming favourite. Ryan and the Wright Motorsport Team will use the additional race night as a test session prior to next Saturday night’s $2300 to win Ross Wright Memorial, which is “THE” race they always set themselves to win each season.

Port Pirie racer Bailey Heinrich has shown great speed of late in his rookie Sprintcar season, and he is coming off his career best result of third at the last South Australian event at the Tolmer Speedway. Prior to that he had an electrical issue that cost him a podium result at Murray Bridge therefore he is the most likely driver in the field to challenge Jones for the overall victory.

Despite the recent news Whyalla Earthworks Racing will have a car on track this weekend with Balhannah rookie Luke Squiers hoping to build on his second top 5 result of the season at the Tolmer Speedway while Simon Richards will also be looking to have a better night than his last outing when he up ended his #66 in turn four resulting in a severe chassis damage.

Bordertown will be well represented with three teenagers all set to take to the track with Isla and Hilton Rowett set be joined by Jack Will, who will make his second career Sprintcar start. All three of the South-East residents have spent many years racing Dirt Karts and Jack Will has spent several seasons as part of the crew for former Australian Champion Marcus Dumesny.

Joining Jack Will as the most recent rookies will be local Brodie Somerfield, who has adopted Brad Keller’s #19, and former Wingless Sprint competitor Tate Cowie, who will be making his winged Sprintcar debut.

Horsham racer Thomas Baker will be making his second appearance at Murray Bridge this season after recording a top 10 result in December.

The format on the night will see two heat races with a 20-lap final.
